CFU Responds to O’Leary’s comments on union membership.
The Canadian Freelance Union condemns the comments made by Kevin O’Leary regarding imprisoning union members in Canada.
The Canadian Freelance Union condemns the outrageous and unconstitutional comments made by Conservative Party Leadership Candidate Kevin O’Leary with respect to unions and union members. Mr O’Leary’s comments are grotesquely offensive and offer a clear insight into the kind of future Canadians will have if he is elected to lead a major political party.
Mr O’Leary’s comments show that he is completely ignorant of the protections afforded union workers in Canada under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The CFU has grave concerns about his statements which can only be interpreted as a direct attack on the constitutional rights of Canadians to organize.
The CFU also has concerns about the lack of condemnation from more moderate conservatives regarding Mr O’Leary’s policies which would lead to the imprisonment of hundreds of thousands of Canadians based on nothing more than their political beliefs and call on the Conservative Party of Canada to investigate Mr O’Leary’s comments which appear to be at odds with articles 2.1.8 and 2.1.12 of the Conservative Party of Canada Constitution.
